I'm originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to New York City in 2008. Before then, I lived in Chicago and Los Angeles for a few years after I graduated college in 2003. I currently live in Bed-Stuy and work in the wonderful Bat Haus in Bushwick! I'm a freelance writer, mostly as a contributor for Mental Floss. I also work as a film critic and movie blogger. My work can be read on UPROXX, Moviepilot, Phactual, io9, and ShockYa. I'm currently working on a novel titled "The Sweet Avenue." Coming soon....
Nick Capezzera is a documentary filmmaker and photographer from Newton, Massachusetts. He is currently working on two documentaries. The first is a human rights piece about toxic pesticides in modern agriculture and the people they affect the most. The second documentary is about a boutique puppet workshop in the East Village and their journey to adapt the work of famed children's book author, Eric Carle. So it's safe to say my interests vary. I shoot, edit, direct, produce...all that fun stuff. I'm also an avid roadtripper (I've gone cross country 5 times) and was born in Seoul, Korea. But, I was raised right outside of Boston, Massachusetts by Italian parents. Seriously... how many adopted Korean-Italians do you know??
I am from New Milford, Connecticut, and I studied art history and Chinese in Boston at Tufts University while writing art reviews for my college newspaper. I'm now a freelance journalist covering technology and culture stories for places like The New Republic, Newsweek, and Pacific Standard. Also, I want more people to rock climb with in Brooklyn!
Born and raised in Chandler Arizona I moved to NY because I was tired of living in desert and wanted to see what was on the other side of the country. I currently create content for the Gepwin gaming channel as well as do freelance design. My fun hobbies are any type of gaming and rock climbing.
Roman was born in Ukraine, grew up in Colorado, and spent lots of time in Latin America. After researching sustainable tourism development in Nicaragua, he started a nonprofit there called Comunidad Connect, which works to alleviate poverty, improve health care, and provide access to clean water.
In addition to being Director of Development for Comunidad Connect, he is starting a consulting company for nonprofits and small businesses called A Great Start. Roman knows fundraising, strategic planning, budgeting, and business development; all the things you need to get a new venture off the ground.
Justin Richards is from gulf coast Florida via the Boston metro area. He got his BS in journalism from the University of Florida and worked for several years as a reporter. I'm the Executive Director of Quill.org, a free literacy tool that teaches writing and grammar skills to students. I develop the user experience, coordinate the team, and raise grant funding. I previously studied philosophy and history at Bates College. In my spare time, I enjoy riding my bike, reading fiction, and designing games.
I grew up on a horse farm in upstate New York and moved to the city in 2008 to go to school at NYU. I worked at Vimeo throughout college, then groupme, before switching to freelance illustration full time.
I am an illustrator, working mainly in custom/branded emojis. I have done emojis for GroupMe, Washington Post, Brit+co, etc. I also do watercolor paintings and comics for fun. Eventually I would like to write and illustrate a children's book. Also, I have a pet rabbit named Napoleon Bunnyparte.

Lauren Whitehead is a writer and performer from Vernon Hills, Il - a small suburb outside of Chicago. She recently graduated from Columbia University where she received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Dramaturgy - a fancy, antiquated word for the study of dramatic structures. She works as a freelance script consultant and workshop facilitator and currently she's working on an adaptation of Chekhov's "Three Sisters" to feature an all black cast. She really likes documentaries about taboo subjects, sour gummy candies, and strong coffee with maple syrup.
